Day 1: Montreal (Dorval) - Catania (Fontanarossa) Departure from Dorval airport (Montreal) on regular flights to Fontanarossa airport (Catania) with correspondences. Meals on board. Day 2: Catania airport - Acitrezza Arrival at Catania’s airport in the late morning and welcome at the arrival terminal from our local guide. Transfer by coach to the hotel in Acitrezza. Information meeting with our local guide followed by a reconnaissance visit of the village afterwards return to the hotel for supper. (S) Day 3: Acitrezza - Catania - Zafferana Etnea - Etna - Milo - Acitrezza Breakfast at the hotel. Departure at 8:00 am by coach for a guided visit of the old city of Catania and its very animate food market. Departure for Zafferana Etnea: Tasting and visit of a local honey producer followed by a visit at a local volcanic stone sculptor. Departure for the visit of Mount Etna (elev. 2000m.), the largest and most active volcano in Europe. Transfer for a brunch, a tasting of wine, malvasia and grappa, and a guided visit of a local winery in the town of Milo. Return to the hotel in Acitrezza for supper. (B, 2 T, L, S) Day 4: Acitrezza - Gole d’Alcantara - Giardi Naxos - Castelmola - Taormina - Lipari Breakfast at the hotel. Departure at 8:00 am by coach for a guided visit of the “Gole d’Alcantara” followed by a guided visit of Giardini Naxos and Taormina. A visit of the Greek-Roman theater, churches and the charming streets of this city. Departure for a guided visit of Castelmola. Free time for lunch in this beautiful medieval village. In the afternoon, transfer to the port of Milazzo. Transfer by hydrofoil to the island of Lipari and to the hotel. Meet in the reception of the hotel for supper in a local restaurant. (B, S) Day 5: Lipari Breakfast at the hotel, departure for a guided visit of the Aeolian archeological museum, where we find the Castle, home of the Greek acropolis and archeological excavation that dates back to the Bronze Age (1700 B.C.). After the visit, free time in the afternoon for Lunch. Departure at 18:00 pm for a tasting and a supper in an agritourismo. (B, T, S) Day 6: Lipari - Stromboli - Lipari Breakfast at the hotel, free time in the morning and free time for lunch. At 14:00 boarding onto the M/n PALOMA, for the departure to Stromboli island: visit of the Information Centre of the National Group of Volcano logy and the village of San Vincenzo. Return on board the M/n PALOMA for supper. Sunset cruise to Strombolicchio. View of the natural fireworks from the eruptions of Stromboli’s three active craters (eruption approx. every 12 minutes) and the Sciara del Fuoco (the flow of lava into the sea). Return to Lipari Island. (B, S) Day 7: Lipari - Alicudi - Filicudi - Lipari Breakfast at the hotel. At 9:15 am, boarding onto the boat M/n PALOMA for an entire day at these two picturesque islands. This excursion will be commented by our captain Pino. Visit of the inner land of Alicudi and lunch aboard the M/n PALOMA. Depart for Filicudi Island; visit of the Grotta Bue marino, the village of Porto, and the prehistoric village of Capo Graziano. Return to Lipari Island. Free evening (B, L) Day 8: Lipari - Salina - Lipari Breakfast at the hotel. At 9.15 am, boarding onto the boat M/n PALOMA. Departure for the commented tour of Lipari and Salina Island. A stop at Porticello. A visit of the town of Rinella and a tasting of local products, such as, capers, olives, and / or malvasia. Departure for Punta Perciato, where we will see a prehistorical marketplace, also a beautiful place for a swim and for snorkelling. Departure for the port of S. Marina Salina for the visit of this typical fisherman village. Return aboard for the continuity of the tour. Return to Lipari Island for a free time for lunch. Supper in a local restaurant. (B, T, S) Day 9: Lipari - Vulcano - Lipari Breakfast at the hotel. At 9.15 am, boarding onto the boat for a tour around Vulcano island: visit of the « faraglione », the « Grotta del cavallo » and the pools of « Venere ». Arrival at the port of Levante, disembark on this island for the visit of a natural and unique environment. Several activities are offered on this mystic island such as guided or non guided walk to the crater, natural mud bath and guided visit of this site (faraglione della fabbrica), natural thermal whirlpool bath in the sea, shopping and sunbathing at the popular black sand beach of Ponente, thalasso therapy center ($)… At 15:00 pm, return to Lipari Island. (B) Day 10: Lipari - Panarea - Lipari Breakfast at the hotel. At 9.15 am, boarding onto the boat. Departure for Panarea Island; visit of the inner land : fascinating village of San Pietro, scenic walk to the prehistoric village of Punta Milazzese with a stop at the marvellous golden beach. Free time for lunch along the way. Return to the port of San Pietro for the transfer to the port of Lipari. Supper in a local restaurant. (B, S) Day 11: Lipari (Free day) Breakfast at the hotel. Optional excursion: Departure at 9:00 am by coach for the panoramic and guided visit of Lipari Island and its four villages (Canneto, Acquacalda, Quattropani, Pianoconte) with strategic stops at Quattrocchi and Porticello (enormous mountain of pumice that immerses itself into the sea). Visit of Chiesa Vecchia, typical Aeolian style church, and its promontory. Stop for a tasting at the winery of a local resident. Lunch at a local trattoria included in the optional excursion. Departure at 19.30 for supper and folkloric evening in a local restaurant. (B, S) Day 12: Lipari - Milazzo - Tindari - S. Stefano di Camastra - Agrigento Breakfast at the hotel. Departure from the port of Lipari for the port of Milazzo by hydrofoil at 8h00. Guided visit of Milazzo’s Castle; defensive Aragon masterpiece. Departure for Capo Tindari; sanctuary of the ‘Madonna del Tindari’ and its archaeological site. Free time for lunch. Departure for the visit of S.Stefano di Camastra that is specialized in the artisan ceramics. Transfer to the hotel of Agrigento. Supper at the hotel. Visit of the illuminated Valley of the Temples by coach. (B, S) Day 13: Agrigento - Piazza Armerina - Cefalu Breakfast at the hotel. Departure at 8h30 for the guided visit of the famous Valley of Temples of Agrigento. Once named Akragas at the time of its foundation during the VI century BC, this former city regroups ten temples. Departure for Piazza Armerina. Free time for lunch on the road. Guided visit of the Roman Villa of the Casale; one of the most remarkable archaeological testimonies of Sicily during the imperial Roman era. Transfer to the hotel of Cefalu. At 19h00, departure for a reconnaissance visit of this Norman village and a tasting in a local enoteca. Return to the hotel for supper. (B, T, S) Day 14: Cefalu - Monreale - Palermo - Cefalu Breakfast at the hotel. Departure at 8h30 from Cefalu for the guided visit of Monreale: visit of the Duomo and the Belvedere where one has a superb view of the whole Valley of the Conca d’Oro. In the afternoon, guided visit of old Palermo (Palace of the Norman, Duomo, Palatine chapel … ). Free time for lunch on the road. Departure for transfer to the hotel of Cefalu. Supper at the hotel.
